Dear & Beloved,

Paul has been dealing with the issue of idolatry in ch8 and the principle of forsaking our freedoms, to benefit our weaker brothers specifically related to eating meat sacrificed to idols.

Today in chapter 9, he turns to himself as an example since everyone examines him up and downed criticizes him anyway. He gives us reason to carry our cross and forgo our freedoms in verse 19 "For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them.”

Paul has a right to be paid. Yet He forgoes this to win more for Christ.

In Matt. 16:24  …" Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

What would you give up to win more for Christ?

-Pastor John
